Farm's History

Back to 1742 the historical complex of Fonte Limpa was one of the main colonial farms on Alto Vale do Piranga. The region with it's fertile lands became the main source of supplies to the Itaverava, Mariana and Ouro Preto (also know as Vila Rica) gold mines around on 17th century, discovered in 1694, 1696 and 1698. On the farm estabilished several routes on Estrada Real's complex.

For that reason the valley farms prospered, and so it's camps, which stagnated on 19th century, allowing for it's preservation to date in both historical and environmental since there's no factories or typical urban cities, those were made around the BR-040 road, far away from the valley because of Serra do Espinhaço.

Fazenda Fonte Limpa was sold the current family' owners in 1838. The following 150 years had also a amazing prosperity, when mass production spread on all segments, from sugar cane to pecuary a extensive ranching, racehorses, eggs, birds, wool, fruits, honey, cereals, etc.

In 1995 the farm was declared Historical and Artistic Monument by the state of Minas Gerais, honor only given to six another farms on the state.
In 1997 started the operations as hotel and it aggregates the comforts of our own time, while remain the complete preservation of the original architeture.
